The Cèze Valley (Vallée de la Cèze)

BathingHikingSightseeing 20 Min.

Magnificent valley between vineyards and wild garrigue, with three villages that have been awarded the “Plus beaux villages de France” label (Montclus, La Roque sur Cèze et Aiguèze), the Cascades du Sautadet at La Roque sur Cèze and the Chartreuse de Valbonne (Carthusian Charterhouse), etc.

Montclus

Montclus, which has been named one of the most beautiful villages in France, is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Cèze. It is the closest village to our house on the Cèze, ideal for getting to a seaside resort quickly. The idyllic village is surrounded by vineyards, lavender fields and wooded areas and has preserved numerous witnesses of its past with its medieval houses, narrow streets and the donjon of its medieval castle, which towers high above the village.

Goudargues, the "Little Venice of the Gard"

Goudargues has a charming main street with a canalized Cèze in the middle and large, old plane trees. Numerous restaurants, cafés with terraces and stores.

Cornillon

From Goudargues in the direction of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Cornillon lies on the left, a beautiful, unspoilt village on a hill with a wonderful view of the Cèze valley.

La Roque sur Cèze and the Sautadet waterfalls

La Roque sur Cèze (label “Plus beaux villages de France”) is a small medieval village built on a limestone outcrop. A few minutes’ walk from the village are the Cascades du Sautadet, spectacular waterfalls and bathing spots.

The Chartreuse of Valbonne

The medieval charterhouse is secluded in a small valley. A place of peace and relaxation. The monastery has also served as a leper station. Today, all kinds of products such as wine, honey, jam etc. are offered.
